In Conclusion

I chose to bring put this project together in this way for a variety of reasons.

I began with the personal narrative blog post chronicling the mother's struggling with her mentally ill son so as to open the subject with an emotional appeal - to start off by going straight to the heart. In addition, this piece was all encompasing. It worked well to illustrate several of the main points I wanted to bring up throughout my project, such as the consequences and difficulties of such a situation, all through the narrative perspective of a mother.

I then chose to transfer to my next two pieces, the timeline and the graphs, because I wanted to contrast the personal, emotional nature of the opening with hard, unarguable, factual evidence. Of these two pieces, I wanted the timeline to go first because it's an overview of everything I would be discussing in the rest of the project. I thought it would be good to start off the project with such an overview to give readers a basis of knowledge from which they could form opinions and thoroughly understand the following content.

I wanted to end with the political cartoons and news article because both fairly well summarized my arguments. I wanted to begin with the political cartoons as they are simpler and easier for the general public to understand in a glance. They provided a good, clear understandable view of the topic before moving into the news article which also summarized much of the same ideas but more in depth in a way that benefited from the preface of the political cartoons.
